ELECTION YESTERDAY, TODAY WE PLAN FOR TOMORROW

The May 8th election is history and congratulations to all candidates as well as those who took their responsibility as citizens seriously and voted.  Now that the elections are over, we must look to the future in order to move our community forward.  School district trustees and City Council members have many challenges facing them as they help build the best city and public school systems in the state.  City Council members have the challenge of providing services in a growing community with limited funds.  County officials have the challenge to provide quality services in one of the fastest growing counties not only in Texas, but the nation.

OFFICIAL GUIDE MEANS BUSINESS

The 2011 edition of the Official Guide to New Braunfels is underway and will serve as the Chamber’s membership directory, relocation guide and visitor guide.  Chamber members were mailed advertising information in late March.  If you are interested in advertising in this award-winning publication, contact Ginger Doherty at 210-861-7148 or gingerdoherty@mail.com. The magazine will include Chamber members listed alphabetically by business name, alphabetically by personal representative name, and in classified “yellow pages” format buyers guide.

HOTEL OCCUPANCY STARTS YEAR UP

First quarter 2010 hotel occupancy tax revenues posted by the City of New Braunfels vs. the same period shows an increase.  This is with several properties not submitting their reports as yet.  This makes the third consecutive quarter that hotel occupancy tax revenues have been higher than the previous year and bodes well for the upcoming summer tourism season with water levels looking good.  Congratulations to local accommodation firms as well as the area visitor industry and C&VB for their efforts in making these revenues possible.
