CITY MAY PASS ON UNDERPASS
The S. Seguin Avenue underpass project supported the last 32 years in the community has recently received word that funding is available from the state to complete the project. However, the City Council on September 6 has a deadline to accept the funds and if not, they will be given to another community. The underpass near the Post Office needs to be widened to promote safety and serve this community better. TXDOT has expended nearly $3 million to date on right-of-way acquisition and planning costs and funds have also been expended by NBU and the city on this project. TXDOT will remove the once white stones, clean and store them and place them back on the improved structure. A six-foot sidewalk will be added, add decorative railing along the top along with enough pavement for a bike lane as well as pumps to eradicate water from the underpass in times of heavy rain/flooding.

BRAUNFELS FOUNDATION SUPPORTS CIS
Braunfels Foundation Trustees last Thursday evening voted to give up to $20,000 to Communities in Schools of South Central Texas. The Trust provides the headquarters for CIS in the historic Hinman House at no charge, a value of approximately $30,000 annually. The latest gift is meant to assist CIS due to the funding shortfalls from local ISDs and the state. The Chamber administers the Trust. The Trust also sponsors the “Living Legends of New Braunfels” event, set for October 11 in the Civic/Convention Center.
BUSINESS LEADING THE WAY
That’s the theme for the 93rd Chamber banquet set for next January 27, 2012. The best way to enjoy the evening is with a reserved table filled with your friends and associates. Major sponsors are already being sought in the areas of food, magazine, facility, decoration, gift, “after party”, AV tech, social and speaker. The Harleys will provide the “after party” entertainment and the keynote during the banquet will be delivered by well-known motivational business speaker Bob Goshen. Business leading the way!

Incentives for the creation of primary jobs total $962,596 during this period and another $848,000 to the Landa Park Golf Course. 3-50-68-1
What 3 independently-owned businesses would you miss if they disappeared? Your purchases are what keep those businesses around. If half the employed population spent $50 each month in locally owned businesses, it would generate more than $42.6 billion in revenue. For every $100 spent in locally-owned stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. One is the number of people it takes to start the trend . . . you! The Chamber’s Shop New Braunfels First project has available window decals to help spread the word.
