Each November the Chamber Staff completes an annual survey of local economic indicators as part of its professional services agreement with the New Braunfels Industrial Development Corporation (4B Board). Charts and graphs of some of the results have been included.
Some trends emerging over the last six years the annual survey has been conducted show the significant increases in New Braunfels overall growth:

Population increased 34% vs. the state's 10% over the last six years.

|
Six-year unemployment city rate rose to 5.9%, but averaged 4.03% throughout the year and still one of the lowest rates in the nation.

Jobs in New Braunfels rose by 3% to 26,990 in 2009, but was outpaced by last year’s record annual growth of 8.85%. Overall, there has been a 22% increase in the last 6 years. Primary jobs rose by 6% to 6,936 from last year’s nearly 6,693 jobs. Over 3,600 primary jobs have been created in the last 6 years, an average of 606 a year.

Property valuations for residential continued to increase slightly, up 87% since 2004. Commercial remained steady while industrial valuations dipped by 20% in the market

Absorption rates remained steady, leaving only 14% of office space available. Over 225,000 sq feet of office space has been added in the last 6 years.

Median household incomes in the city are now higher than the San Antonio Metro Area
