Word-Borchers project outlined |

NEW BRAUNFELS — Developers are planning, if an agreement can be signed with city officials, to build a 5,000-plus-home community on the Word-Borchers Ranch that would include a university campus, a resort hotel, 480 acres of parks, a new flood-control dam, the widening of portions of River Road and Loop 337 and much, much more.
Construction of the project, which would be known as Veramendi, could begin in 15 months, said Peter James, chief executive officer of ASA Properties, the Australian firm that has partnered with New Braunfels’ Word-Borchers family to create the master-planned development that would span the family’s entire 2,400-acre cattle ranch just across Loop 337 from New Braunfels High School.
