NEW BRAUNFELS — State regulators have released the Texas General Land Office’s 2,000-acre development tract near New Braunfels from its ties to Crystal Clear Water Supply Corp., which had hoped to provide the estimated 3.2 million gallons per day needed for the massive project.
GLO isn’t saying where it’ll get its water now, but Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority is making plans to step in with water for the planned development, which would be one of the largest ever in the New Braunfels area.
TCEQ decertifies
The GLO tract, along either side of Interstate 35 just north of New Braunfels’ Town Center at Creekside shopping center, had been within the state-mandated service area of the San Marcos-based Crystal Clear WSC.
But the GLO wanted out.
“They told us they didn’t want to deal with a rural company,” Crystal Clear administrator Mike Fournier told the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung last summer.
