(New Braunfels, TX) -- Schlitterbahn has received another award for its innovative water park rides, after the announcement was made at the end of last week that "The Falls" at the New Braunfels Schlitterbahn water park had been picked as the About.com 2012 Readers' Choice Award for best Waterpark Ride.

"The Falls" is a 36-hundred foot river ride that uses Schlitterbahn’s new AquaVeyer system, which acts like a conveyor belt transporting riders on inner tubes back to the top of the ride to either get out, or go again without ever leaving their tube.

About.com says they had a record number of nominations submitted across dozens of categories and featured hundreds of finalists, and they congratulated Schlitterbahn on their success being named the 2012 Waterpark slide of the Year, pointing out that it was a tough competition this year, with the 360Rush ride at Spring Valley Beach in Bluntsville Alabama coming in a close second.

Schlitterbahn here in New Braunfels opens for the 2012 summer season on April 28th and will be open weekends through May 16th, when they will begin weekday operations.
