The annual 2007 Benchmark Study was recently completed and will be presented to the 4B Board and City Council this month. Some of the highlights of the study include:

City employment in New Braunfels, according to the Texas Labor Market Review, reached an all-time high of 24,131 workers in 2007.  This is an increase of 1,010 workers over 2006 or +4.4%. 

     
  Unemployment in the City of New Braunfels finished the year below 5% for the fifth consecutive year according to the Texas Labor Market Review.  The last two years have seen city unemployment at or below 3.5%. 
     
  New Braunfels Utilities reported a whopping 59% increase in new business meters over last year.  This is 67% above the last five year average and 40% above the previous high year in 2003. 
     
  Commercial and industrial taxable value in the county continues to expand according to the Comal Appraisal District.  Taxable values in this sector increased nearly $100 million from last year. 
     
  Sales tax revenues for the City of New Braunfels continues to grow.  2007 marked the fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth.
