NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — Veteran newspaper executive James W. Rainey has been appointed the new editor and publisher of the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung (ZYE'-tuhng). A statement from the newspaper says Rainey's appointment was announced Monday by Lissa Walls Vahldiek, chief operating officer of Southern Newspapers Inc., owner of the Herald-Zeitung (http://bit.ly/HP4vnB). Rainey has had a 22-year career in newspapers in Georgia, Tennessee and Alabama. Most recently, Rainey was publisher of the Opelika-Auburn News in Alabama.
