Our Policy

For over 156 years citizens of this area have worked diligently in maintaining and improving their community in order to enjoy the best quality of life possible. Community leaders have successfully guided the community towards a healthy balance of social and economic growth.

Statistical evidence indicates the community will continue to experience growth. The interest in New Braunfels and this area of the state can be a valuable asset if properly controlled and managed. With this in mind, and recognizing that the current generation has a responsibility to future citizens, a firm and comprehensive policy on growth has been adopted by the city and supported by Build NB. This is to encourage other areas of community leadership to follow accordingly. In addition, the City of New Braunfels has a 1/2¢ sales tax for economic development. A City Council appointed corporation (known as Type B) oversees these funds which are utilized for infrastructure needs and for low interest loans for qualified businesses looking to expand or relocate to New Braunfels. A private 501c foundation also supports the economic development strategy along with the staff from The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce.

What We Owe Future Generations
Forming the basis for our high quality of life and livability are the natural resources abundant in this area. Texas’ largest springs, the rivers and streams, and the scenic Hill Country are important resources that must be maintained and protected for future generations.

It is essential that The Chamber, Foundation and sales tax corporation continue to strive for healthy economic growth through careful selection of diversified industries.

Downtown rehabilitation and beautification must be continued in both the public and private sector.

The visitor industry is a major portion of the economic base of this community. Therefore, its retention is necessary but with more attention given to its management by community leadership.
