New Braunfels has one established special district, a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) in the city limit that covers the Town Center at Creekside development - a TIRZ can also be referred to as a tax increment financing (TIF). The City of New Braunfels, Comal County and NBISD each have a percentage to pay back the $26 million made in infrastructure improvements to the developer (New Quest) over the next 20 years for the Creekside development.
