44th LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE PLANNING UNDERWAY The arrangements committee for the 44th Texas Legislative Conference upcoming meeting will cover topics for the conference as well as the candidates for the Texan of the Year. The conference dates are set for March 18 & 19, 2010.

"Kits for Kids"- DEEMED A SUCCESS The Chamber's Business-Education Partnership Committee met to discuss the progress of the "Kits for Kids" program, PAC/TAC cards, a county-involved truancy program, and the ECHS career program.
COUNTY-CHAMBER AGREEMENT INKED An agreement has been signed by the County Judge and Chamber President regarding economic services to be rendered to the County by the Chamber for a time frame of September 11, 2009 thru December 31, 2010.
BLUE COATS ATTEND BLUE COAT "MIXER" Over 50 Blue Coats attended a "mixer" for their group. Since January they have presided at over 49 ribbon cuttings and over 18 different Chamber functions.
CHAMBER ORGANIZING ALT. TECHNOLGY USAGE Local goverment agencies recently met to continue discussing the use of natural gas as an alternative fuel for their vehicle fleets. Evaluating the use, cost of retrofitting, and finding a filling station were all items on the table.
HALL OF HONOR RECIPIENTS APPRECIATED Every year the Chamber takes the opportunity to thank the Hall of Honor Award recipients with a fellowship luncheon. This year the luncheon will be held on September 30th.
LOCAL COMPANY EXPANDS CALL CENTER Ashley Furniture HomeStores recently held a ribbon cutting for the expansion of their new call center. The ability to add the 40 jobs came after the acquisition of six former Finger Furniture Stores in the greater Houston area.
